Is My AC Compressor Bad

Below is the question about Is My AC Compressor Bad, I have a 2000 Ford Explorer (V6 Vin X). The AC has not been working so I thought maybe it could be a quick recharge of R134. Recharged and the compressor clicked on, but then shuts off within 2 seconds. Does the every 10 secs or so…does this mean the compressor is bad or is it supposed to do that?

Nooo, it means you just reached the threshold where the pressure switch contacts…try putting in some more r134 and it should work better…then take it to a shop to find the leak…
I own a shop and what its doing right now is cycling its self,this means its working,it just needs more freon in it,if it was bad it wouldn’t come on at all ,so id say yours is good just don’t over charge it,this will blow a seal in the compressor and it wont be no good if you do this,it might be a good idea to have it charged up,this way they can check the pressure on it as they charge it up,but you probably have a good compressor on it,and it just needs a good freon charge in it,good luck with it hope this helps.
Your recharge is not full. you probably have a leak since the compressor is short-cycling. have the system checked for leaks, then recharge the system after the leak(s) are fixed.

You have either under filled it or over filled it. My guess is under filled. You may need another can of 134A. See what the gauge reads. If it is low, then the low pressure switch is cutting out the compressor to keep it from freezing up. Get the seal fixed though. You can go through a lot of freon and you don’t have to. Do it once, and be done with it.

Compressor sounds fine, probally undercharged, its not something you should just add on your own, could cause expensive damage. take it to a professional
