Compressor more likely just low best and only way of knowing is to have a shop look at it and tell you what the problem is

  2. Two.lanes says:

It needs to recharged. Not enough freon in it. As long as its not making any noises, just recharge it

Depending on where you live and the amount of miles and how long you have used you A/C then take it to a reputable mechanic in your town and have him run a computer test on what is wrong. Chances are it is a compressor or just needs freon……………..

If your comp. is putting out cool air it is ok and only needs charged. It is about normal for a car that old to be needing a recharge. It uses R134a refrigerant, not freon, to charge. A recharge kit is available at auto store that you can do yourself if you are careful and follow directions precisely. You may have a friend who could help. Much cheaper than getting ripped off at auto shop.

If you can locate the compressor in your car, most Japanese car they usually put the compressor somewhere in the bottom, near the engine. It’s a little round cylinder thing that has a belt strap around it. If you look closely when your engine is running and turn on the AC, the top of that thing has a plate(next to the belt that wrap around it) and if it spinning that means the compressor is running and you need to recharge your AC. If that thing doesn’t spin then you have bad compressor. You can tell by switching the AC on and off.
