If you want, you could find a belt to bypass the AC compressor. An autoparts store may already know what size you need. You’re not the first person who has had to do this. I’m assuming of course you don’t use a serpentine belt. That may be a little trickier to fit, but still possible. Good luck.
You need to go to the parts store and consult them directly.you should be able to get a belt for the same year without the ac .try
auto zone.com sign in and get the belt number(part#) then you can be a step ahead when you go to the store.you can also find the belt routing how it goes on.just as long as the ac is not used as the adjuster you’ll do fine.measure around the pulleys with a string.
I believe that you can get a belt for it, just order one from a parts store and tell them that you don’t have a/c
Well, this seems like a two issue question.
If the compressor is seized, obviously it will not turn when you turn it on. But, is the compressor clutch seized too? If not, it should be fine just running, just don’t turn on the A/C (unless the car tries to turn on the A/C when you put the defrost)? If this is the case, you can unplug the connector on the A/C compressor so the system will not engage the clutch by ‘accident’.
Now, if the clutch is also seized, then that is an issue. Your system is R134, suppose to be safe for the environment IF it leaks. There is a product that you can buy to replace the A/C compressor w/ an idler pulley. I know they make it since I saw it at my local Federated Auto Parts store. Its for people who do not want to replace the AC compressor, but have a serpentine belt and you can’t just bypass the compressor. You remove the compressor in bolt in it’s place an idler pulley that takes the place of the compressor pulley (size/location). That way, you don’t have to find a ‘bastard’ belt, just use the same one.
I can be dangerous to disconnect lines since the refrigerant may freeze your skin if exposed. to it.
I believe you can just pull the power away from the compressor and the pump would just spin on it idle (will not freeze). This will get you around or until you can get a new compressor. You can also do what everyone sugguested as well, buy a short belt.
