Can The High Pressure Relief Valve On My Receiver Drier Cause My Compressor To Kick Off
Posted in Air Conditioning | Asked on Jan 19, 2012My ac was doing fine, all of a sudden the compressor kicked out.It is still full of freon. When i turn on my ac the compressor kicks on for a few seconds, then it kicks back off. Can the high pressure relief valve stop my compressor from running? This is happening on my 2002 nissan maxima.

Ugh it could, simply unplug the switch and take a piece of wire and jumper the two connectors, if the compressor runs, then you’ve found your problem
You need to watch the pressures at the time that it is shutting off. It could be a bad switch or something major.
That pressure relief valve does that exactly, it allows all pressure to leave the system. the complete charge is vented to the atmosphere. id bet that the system is either running normal and cycling as it should or just a tad low.
How many cans of R134a did you put in and why do you think you have high pressure?
