1999 Honda Accord LX Makes Screeching Noises

Below is the question about 1999 Honda Accord LX Makes Screeching Noises,

I have a 1999 accord and in the morning when its cold, or at night when its cold it makes a screeching noise for about 5 minutes. My AC also doesnt work and someone said the noise comes from the AC compressor. Is this true, can the AC really make that noise because I have friends who dont have AC and it does not make that noise, if so can I just unsnap the belt from the AC compressor to stop the noise?

Yes the compressor can squeal like a bitch. so can a dried out or loose belt. spray some belt dressing on the belt first to see if it quiets down, then you know the belt is shot. otherwise if that belt only drives the ac then you can take it off. if it drives other accessories then you need a smaller belt.

Screeching is often one of the rubber fan or accessory (A/C) belts. These slip when loose, old (they only last 3-5 years), or the unit is putting up too much resistance. In this case the AC compressor might be worn out or it might just be the belt. Replacing the belt seems like the most reasonable thing to try. They aren’t expensive and if you have to tools, not hard to fix.

ITS NOT THE COMPRESSOR ITS THE BELT YOU HAVE ON ONE OF THE WHEELS THAT SPIN THE FAN BELT JUST BUY A SPRAY AT ANY AUTO PARTS STORE AND USE THE SPRAY ALL WEEK AND YOU WILL BE FINE
