Electric is the way togo, but that’s just my 2 cents.

Electric………….cleaner and very easy to install…..

You would not need brakes for a trailer that small, but if you want them, go with electric and use a Prodigy in cab control

  4. jtexas says:

Are 18 foot travel trailers really under 3000 pounds? I agree brakes are not really necessary, therefore the least expensive to acquire and maintain are best.

Unless of course you’re at over over your vehicles towing capacity.

I don’t know about Chevy’s, but Dodges have a tow/haul gear/mode/etc just for that purpose, complete with engine brake. Engine/exhaust brakes are the best for hauling. If it’s just a travel trailer you’ll just need the brakes on the trailer and the truck brakes.
