Is the steering fluid full? Do you have a leak? Take it to a shop or change it yourself. Fuel filters should be good for a year. I have a 96 Taurus that has this sort of trouble and haven't found it yet . Could run ODBII tester on it like Davis Drive Right car chip that would tell you what is going on if it is losing power . Might check the CCRM next to the battery if you have it . Mine is worse it won't start and cannot find short yet . It kills injectors after 3 second and has no power at coil pack .
