95 Dakota 4X4 I Get A Clunking Noise From The Steer Column That I Can Feel In The Wheel Upon Take Off\braking

The steering wheel itself actually moves, not as in turning the wheel, but it moves in and out. i have inspected the suspension components and everything is fine. I’m certain that the problem is coming from the column itself. its almost like something is lose. are there any adjustment bolts or screws that i might want to check?

remove the horn button and see if the nut is loose and you could also check the two nuts that hold the column up under the dash
