F150 W/ Torsion Bars
Posted in Leaf Spring | Asked on Sep 10, 2010I have a 2003 Ford F150 Super Crew 4×4 Off Road. It has Torsion Bar suspension on the front and leaf springs on the rear. I know I can use shackles to lift the rear, and I have heard I can somehow turn the torsion bars on the front to get 2-3 inches of lift. I would like to lift it about three inches. What is the easiest, most economical, and safest way to get this done?

To be honest..I would save up and get a suspension lift… cranking the torsion bars will give you at most 1.5″-2″ of “lift” depending on how much the t-bars are cranked already. Also after cranking the t-bars your truck will ride like…crap..and you will have to get your front end re-aligned because it’ll knock your camber off. You can def get 2″ out of a leveling kit.. Readylift makes a levling kit for 4×4 F-150 which consist of larger torsion keys. It wouldn’t be nec to lift the rear with those..only if you had 4 or more inches with a suspension kit. With the level kit you should clear 33′s easily. check out 4 Wheel Parts. http://www.4wheelparts.com you can enter in your truck information and it will show you all of the options you have.. Also another option is a Body Lift..kind of a pain to install but you get 3″ out of it…then you could add the level kit and have 5″ in the front and 3″ in the rear..would probablly look good..
