One Of The Coil Springs Broke On My 2001 Volvo Xc70, Does The Other Need To Be Replaced

Posted in Coil Spring | Asked on Jul 17, 2010

The dealer is telling me to replace them both. He is also telling me to repair the vehicle the way it should be repaired I have about $4700 in repairs! What a joke. He says that if I don’t replace the other coil spring the car will not drive correctly. Is that true? If so, I may have him fix the broken coil spring and take it to another repair shop for the other!

Think about it. Coil springs get weak over time. That is why one broke. If you put just one new one on, the other one is weaker and it will drive odd. Plus the new one will place more strain on the old one and it will soon break too and you have to go through the same process over again. Just do not have it done at the dealer. They charge too much. Any shop with ASE certified mechanics can do the job just as good and with less cost.
