    That is about right

  2. Don R says:

    Yup. Hondas are special.

  3. Uncle Bo says:

If that price is for parts and labor to do a complete brake job, its about right.

Well if you go to ebay and buy it your self and read about it on how to do it is WAY cheaper. Thats not hard to do is not like you doing the engine you know. Honda Accord Coupe 05 – 07 Rear Brake Kit I jut saw it on ebay for $50 I bet you can get both for $100 and 5hrs or less of your time should do it. Or if you know any1 that knows how to do it that wants to earn some extra cash can do it for you cheap.

If the rotors just need to be turned (that is were they shave off part of the rotor) it should be fairly inexpensive like $250 for the turned rotors and brake pads. If the rotors need to be replaced the rotors themselves should be about 50-75 bucks per rotor. And the brakes are about 75 bucks for a set plus labor so $700 is about right. I would ask the mechanic if the rotors need to be replaced or if they can just turn them. If your car shakes when you apply the brakes this means the rotors need to be turned because they are worped from heat. Sometime mechanics will tell you that you need something replaced when they really do not . I would go to another shop and act like you know exactly what you are talking about and say something like this, ” I need to have my rotors turned and the brakes need to be checked” they will not charge that much to have the rotors turned. I would ask what the thickness of the rotor is and then ask if they would suggest them being replaced soon. If there is a squeeling sound when you apply the breaks it is always good to have them checked and replaced if needed.
The best investment you could ever make if you are afraid of being taken advantage is to go to your local auto parts store and get yourself a book for the type of vehicle you have. This way when you are having a problem with your vehicle you can look up under trouble shooting section and it will give you an idea of what is wrong with your vehicle. This way when you go take your vehicle to a shop you can state what you think the problem is and why, the mechanic will be more hesitant to tell you to have work done on the vehicle that does not need to be done. .
