Below is the question about How Much To Replace Brake Rotors And Pads On A ’99 Honda Civic,

I was told $422. That seems somewhat high. He indicated that I had metal on metal contact (which is very possible). I have an idea of what the parts are, but how long does a job like that take? Any idea as to what a good price for the whole job would be? This is in Northern VA outside of DC.
The car has about $79k miles.

It sounds high because of the labor. If the scarring of the rotors is light, they can attach a grinding machine and turn the rotors and save them. 1 hour each side. If they are heavily scarred, they will need to be replaced. This means the entire hub must be removed from the car as the new rotor must be machine pressed onto the hub with new bearings. About 4 hours work. Rotors, new replacements $100 each easy, pads $100 the set, $80 an hour for labor X 3 hours = $240. Thats $440 right there.

Well I am in Mass. and most brake jobs are around 325 to 425.
That is for rotors, pads and labor. Some places are higher. I am
basing it on were I work.

There are different levels of rotors and pads thus the cost difference.
Low level rotors and pads = 325.00. Better level rotors and pads = 425.00.

It takes about 1 hour to do the job. In Mass mechanics get between
75 to 90 dollars an hour.
