Front Tires Making Rattling Noise.

Posted in Brake Discs & Pads | Asked on Sep 4, 2010

I have a 2004 Mitsubishi Eclipse and just today had the front brakes replaced. A friend of mine who did it for me also took off the rotors to check them. After getting the rotors back on, new pads and the tires back on my car now makes a rattling noise when i drive. The noise happens even while coasting and picks up as i increase speed. It’s clear its something with the tire or in that region i just can’t figure out what the issue is. Any ideas?

Thanks.
My friend is in college for mechanical engineering and works on cars all the time. The brakes work and everything seems okay, its just the rattling noise when the tires are in motion and something is clearly wrong but i need ideas on what could cause it. NOT the obvious stated, i went this route because i don’t have much money.

Go to a GOOD mechanic and have the brakes done correctly. It is NOT the tires that are rattling—he has not done something properly.

Take to Mitsubishi dealer and get checked maybe your friend has done some mistake and that car cant be safe if its making some kinda noise get check fast or else book a grave for yourself ….

DID HE TIGHTEN THE LUG NUTS? MAKE SURE THE LUG NUTS ARE TIGHT AND THEN TAKE IT TO A REAL MECHANIC. DO THIS OR RISK THE WHEEL FLYING OFF WHILE DRIVING!!!!!!

That college degree is worthless when it comes to fixing cars.

Forgeting to tighten the lug nuts ( the 4 or 5 nuts that hold the wheel to the car) is a rather common mistake. I worked for Goodyear for a couple years as a teen and remember it happening every once in a while.

Did he reinstall the retainer clip ? the clip on the side of the disc pad.
the clip keep hold the disc pad to place. the clip is stainless material..
