Brakes Making Rubbing Noise On 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse

Posted in Brake Discs & Pads
  • When braking at slow speeds, I hear a rubbing noise that sounds like it is coming from under neath the car. there is also a creaking noise. I recently had my front brake pads replaced as the garage thought they put the wrong pads on in june. the car is still making the noise and seems to be getting worse. I am going to have to take it to the dealer for a diagnostic check but know that they will charge an arm and a leg…any ideas of what it could be?? I have checked numerous sites online but nothing gives any answers…. I am also hearing a periodic popping noise when i accelerate. I am wondering if I hit a pot hole or something. maybe something came loose. please help!

Sounds like the popping is bad struts. They can also make a rumbling sound during breaking.

I had the exact same problem and it was caused by having the wrong sized brake pads fitted. once new ones were fitted, they grinded for a while but gradually wore in.

Shops that do just brakes can give you diagnosic check free,One just needs a good hear and test drive.Get more than one opinion always.

It sounds like your brakes pad, did you take it back to the garage and have them put the right pads on?? if not I would do it today, putting the wrong pads on will damage your rotors as well. and If the rotors are damaged I would have them replaced at no cost to you,if it is a front wheel drive you may have issues with your C V joints,
