Anyone Familiar With How The Transmission Cooler Return Lines Go On A 2001 Maxima

Below is the question about Anyone Familiar With How The Transmission Cooler Return Lines Go On A 2001 Maxima,

Thank you for reading my questions and please try to bear with my question- it is not easy to explain.

I installed a new radiator and I want to verify the correct routing of the two smaller transmission cooler lines (return lines?). There are two fixed metal lines on the car that they connect to. One (nearer drivers side) is angled whereas the other (about 2″ away and closer to the passengers side) is a vertical tube (opening facing straight down). I think the vertically oriented tube is the one that the longest return line connects to (the line that is about 16″ long and connects from the passengers side of the radiator or left if you looking under the hood. Can anyone verify that I have the correct routing for the tubes.

I have this questions because when I turn the key to accessory and also when I turn it off, I hear 5 distinct pumping sounds- like a solenoid is trying to pump liquid or something through the system. The only thing I can think of is the transmission has some type of pump and maybe I have the order reversed but I really do not think that I do but I did not hear these consistent and distinct sounds before installing the new radiator- what else could it be?

  1. John Paul says:

Now that I think of it your car may be having Electronic motor mount noise. There are two electric mounts both with two wire brown plugs that run the motor mounts one in front of the valve cover and one on top the transmission. BY unplugging the brown plugs you can locate the motor mount making noise. Nissan Technical bulletin NTB-01010 dated 2/15/2001 front motor mount pn# 11270-2Y011 and rear mount 11320-2Y100. Motor mounts can short out and cause other ECM problems. Good Luck I have had it descried as a whistling buzzing sound 4 to 8 cycles that decreases in volume . To prevent electrical problems disconnect the brown plugs until you can spend the money for new mounts. Horizonal cooler pipe to the drivers side. Vertical to the passengers side really makes no difference which cooler line hooks where.
