Looking At Buying A Jeep. The One I’m Looking At Is A Highly Optioned 2003 Rubicon. It Has Very Low Miles…
Posted in Cab Corner | Asked on Aug 11, 2010At only 12,000. Owned by a doctor for a couple of years, and then by his friend for a couple of years. Still has that new car smell. Like I said it’s highly optioned. 4″ suspension lift, 1″ body lift, Dana 44 on front and rear, electric locks, custom bumpers front and rear, rock guards, molded steel covers around the tail lights and corners of the jeep in the rear, 8,000 wench, full skid plates on the bottom, front and rear diff. are completed guarded, it’s a stick shift with another throddle on the shifter for rock climbing (so you can have your left foot available for the clutch and your right foot to work the brake), new soft top, factory half doors, high lift jack mounted on the heavy duty swing away spare tire mount (with full size spare), newer’ish tires (35″). Looks really awesome. Just a little concerned that it may be too optioned as a daily driver that will honestly only see pavement 80% of the time. I’ve done my homework (just didn’t take the dealers word for it) and it has easily 10K in optioned installed. There’s more, I just didn’t list them all. He’s asking $27k. What do you think? Too much for a daily driver? WOW!!!! I cannot stop thinking about it. It’s bad A$$. And drives like a awesome. Just needing some reassurance that it’s not a bad move for me to buy. I’m be trading in my 2006 Z71 (crew cab, and 4X4) that is paid for in order to be able to put down about $15,000. Dang….called my insurance guy and full coverage insurance will even be cheaper than my truck!!!
I meant electic lockers, not electric locks.

Sounds wonderful for a jeep being sold in 2003 at $27000. But this is 2010 its 7 years old, and no matter how much its got on it that’s is rather a steep price. I would for sure try to bring him down offer him 18m see what hes says. It does have very low mileage and you can be pretty sure that the doctor didn’t go play on the rocks and mud with it. And it is more that likely air lockers (just look under the hood on the opposite side of where the battery is located but in the same place there should be 2 little pumps the size of a windshield washer motor, but they work great. You didn’t mention where you are either so that means something in the prices too, You can buy a 2010 for about the price hes asking with a full 5 yr warrantee (it will be stock-no lift) which with the 2003 I am sure the warrantee is finished. Call a Chrsyler/jeep dealer and ask about the warrantee for this 2003 I know here its 115000 km which mine had an extended warrantee which this one your looking at might have that too. but check it out..
Don’t do it if it won’t see trails much, it’s just a waste and too much to pay. Look at another used one and if you want to modify it then do so. I looked at a Rubicon that was going to be modified but I don’t want what someone else modified. Don’t look at a Rubicon as a DD, it’s meant specifically for offroading, a Sahara, X, or Sport (I have that) would be a better choice. You can take them offroading and modify if you want, but they’re better as DD’s than a Rubicon.
based upon your situation,I think you should find something useful here www.Autoinsurancepro.info
You can buy a brand new Rubicon for $30,000 well equipped.
